Simon says – and Barmy listens!

When Simon says, then Barmy listens!

Barmy owner Eve Lodge was thrilled to be one of the first people to receive a ‘helping hand’ from inspirational business owner Simon Biltcliffe this week.

Simon (pictured below, courtesy of Angus Thomas) is the founder and managing director of award-winning print services company Webmart, which has an annual turnover of £30 million and has three offices, one in Barnsley, the others in Bicester and East Kilbride.

Simon inspires thousands of people each year with his Marxist-Capitalist approach to business, which sees company profits distributed among staff. He now hopes to provide frank and practical advice on a 1:1 basis to help others follow in his footsteps.

He was brought up in Staincross and attended Darton High School, and is also a Barnsley Economic Partnership Business Ambassador (BEP).

He is offering frank and practical advice, on a 1:1 basis, to help others follow in his footsteps.

His ‘Monday Mentoring’ sessions, held by Skype and video link, are being supported by the BEP, and Barmy owner Eve was so keen to be one of the first to take up the offer that her ‘session’ took place at 6.30……in the morning!!

Said Eve: “Normally Monday mornings are not the things you most look forward to – especially getting up at half past 5 or so! But this was different. I was really looking forward to speaking to Simon and to hear his ideas on how I could take my Barmy business forward.

“He was great, really down to earth, and he immediately put me at ease. It felt very informal, just like a chat between friends! And he gave me some brilliant tips!

“He understood the fact that I am a teenage business owner, who is juggling my A level work at college, my bunting, and my social life!

“I would recommend any Barnsley business owner to take advantage of his great ‘Monday mentoring’ sessions.

“Hopefully we will keep in contact and he may be able to provide me with some more guidance in the future.”

  • To apply for one of the Monday Mentoring sessions, email to request a one-page ‘Bilty Business Form’. Simply complete and return this, along with up to three questions that you would like to discuss with Simon, and you will be informed within one week when your session take place.
