There were lots of ‘whoops’, ‘shouts’ and ‘cheers’ on Wednesday night. BB headquarters (and its London branch, at Auntie Helen’s!) were ‘all of a flutter’ as they saw bunting on Coronation Street.
And not just any bunting! Oh no! It was Barmy Bunting!
Our farmyard animals were on the set, placed up in the window of the Community Centre, and just before the programme finished the Street’s current ‘bad boy’, Callum, was pictured right in front of it (see below).
It was ‘Barmy Mavis’ – nannan to our owner Eve, who first spotted them. She was watching the programme from its half past seven start on ITV. She immediately telephoned BB headquarters!
A thrilled Eve, currently working in London, watched the programme on ITV Plus 1, together with her Auntie Helen.
Back in Barnsley Eve’s parents were doing the same, eyes glued to the screen!
The production team at ITV’s Coronation Street had purchased some Barmy Bunting pieces last year.
Before that, on the advice of a friend of her mum’s, Eve, then 15, had sent off samples of her bunting to to the Street production team, who replied: “Thank you for taking the time to send in samples of your work. We are very impressed with your bunting and will be using it in one of our sets at Christmas time. It is perfect for the character we have in mind so thanks again!”
That piece of bunting, our Christmas puddings (pictured below) was hung up in the house of ‘Fizz and Tyrone’ but was not seen on tv.
However, the Barmy puddings were used on Coronation Street’s Text Santa video ‘Fairytale of Weatherfield‘ (see picture below).
And now the Barmy farmyard animals have popped up on the Street!
Said Eve: “It was great to see my bunting on the show! I could not believe it. All my family have been so supportive of my business – and they all massive Coronation Street fans as well!
